Renamed after British Queen Elizabeth II after her royal visit to the park in the 1950’s, Queen Elizabeth National Park is located in the western arm of the Great East African Rift Valley, and constitutes a remarkable variety of ecosystems; From open savannah to rainforest to dense papyrus swamps; from crater lakes to lakes George and Edward, its no wonder that QENP has one of the highest biodiversity ratings in the world.
Popular activities include game-viewing of the numerous animal species including the tree climbing lions, hippos, elephant, baboons, buffalo and chimpanzees. Take a launch trip on the Kazinga Channel or track the Chimps and baboons in the Kyambura Gorge, right in the midst of the rift valley.
